What is an AI Hackathon?
An AI Hackathon is an intensive innovation competition where developers, researchers, students, startups, and professionals work in teams to build AI-powered solutions to real-world challenges. Over three days, teams develop and test their ideas with support from experienced mentors before presenting their solutions to a panel of industry and academic experts.
Who can participate?
Anyone with a passion for AI — developers, designers, students and professionals. You can apply solo or as part of a team.
How do I register?
Once applications open, you’ll be able to submit your application through the official AI Hackathon registration form available on our website. Afterwards you may be invited to partake in an interview with the organisation organizing team. Until then In the meantime, you can register your interest to receive an update as soon as applications go live, along with all key dates and participation details.
What should I bring?
Your laptop, charger and lots of energy. Mentors, meals and workspace are provided.
Do I need to have prior AI experience in order to participate?
You don't exactly need to be an AI expert to participate. You have to have at least some basic AI knowledge. We welcome people with different backgrounds and skill sets, including developers, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, designers, and business professionals. Each team should have the technical capacity to build and demonstrate an AI-powered solution during the Hackathon.
Is there a registration fee
No. Participation in AI Hackathon Greece is completely free of charge for selected participants. Please note that participants are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Can I bring a pre-existing project?
Yes, provided that it is relevant to the challenge you choose and that significant development takes place during the Hackathon. You may build on existing knowledge, tools, or technology, but the solution presented should clearly demonstrate the work and progress made during the event.
What are the judging criteria?
Solutions will be evaluated based on a combination of criteria, including innovation and problem-solution fit, technical implementation and use of AI, team execution, business potential and scalability, and overall impact. Challenge-specific criteria may also apply and will be communicated to participants in advance.
Will there be mentors available to help with technical challenges?
Yes! Experienced mentors from academia, industry, the startup ecosystem, and the AI community will be available throughout the Hackathon to support teams with technical, business, and challenge-specific questions.
Is there a code of conduct for the event?
Yes. AI Hackathon Greece is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for everyone. All participants, mentors, judges, partners, and guests are expected to behave professionally and respectfully throughout the event. Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
