Vasiliki has a bachelor’s in Law from the Faculty of Law of the National Kapodestrian University of Athens, and a Master’s on International, European and Comparative Law, majoring Law and Information Society from the Faculty of Law of the University of Tuku, in Finland. In 2021 she completed her Doctoral Studies, funded by the Academy of Finland, writing her dissertation on Internet Governance, Digital Constitutionalism and Human Rights online. Throughout her studies she has researched issues related to Internet Governance, privacy, data protection and freedom of expression, as well as the intersection of Internet Governance and fundamental rights, and the normative aspects of technology. Her current research interest is centered around Artificial Intelligence, the legal and ethical challenges in engineering and technology development, data trading and data sharing, and children digital maturity. She is also a Data Protection Officer and a passionate Privacy and Ethics in Research and Technology advocate. Since 2018, Vasiliki is a Research Fellow at the ELTRUN Lab of the AUEB, working in several EU funded Research Projects. She also offers legal counseling and workshops on issues related to law and technology, law and innovation, privacy, and Internet law.

Panagiotis Kasnesis holds a Ph.D degree in computer science from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NTUA. He received his diploma degree in chemical engineering and his M.Sc. in techno-economic systems from NTUA, in 2008 and 2013 respectively. His research interests include machine/deep learning, Semantic Web technologies and IoT, while he has published more than 40 scientific articles in international journals/conferences in these fields. He is founder and CEO of Waldiez, co-founder and CTO of ThinGenious and serves as a senior researcher at University of West Attica, participating in several EU RnD projects. Moreover, he is a lecturer at the MSc program “Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning” (https://aidl.uniwa.gr/) and he is certified as Instructor and University Ambassador, by NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI), in the tasks of Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and building LLM-based applications.

Dr. Demetris Gerogiannis is an AI entrepreneur and ecosystem builder with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science and a PhD in Computer Vision from the U. of Ioannina. He is the co-founder and Tech Lead of AIandMe (www.aiandme.io), a deep-tech startup that offers a platform to enhance the trustworthiness of GenAI applications, focusing on security and regulatory compliance. A passionate advocate of the AI revolution, Demetris actively supports the growth of Greece’s AI ecosystem. He is a founding member and Chair of the Association of Artificial Intelligence (www.aicatalyst.gr) and organizes the AIandBeers meetup (www.meetup.com/ai-and-beers), a nationwide event to promote trustworthy AI and related skills. He also serves on the Steering Committee of the Joint Focus Group AI of the EIT AI Community and the Digital SME Alliance. Additionally, Demetris has released a collection of AI entrepreneurship tools under a Creative Commons license.

What is an Al Hackathon?

An Al Hackathon is an event where participants work usually in teams to develop an innovative Artificial Intelligence (Al) solution within a limited time frame, which in this case comes to a 3 – day timeline. It encourages collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving using Al technologies.

Who can participate in the AI Hackathon?

The AI Hackathon is open to both individuals and teams of 2 to 6 individuals with varying levels of expertise, including students, developers, data scientists, and AI enthusiasts.

How do I register for the AI Hackathon?

Registration details and deadlines will be provided on our website. You can register as an individual or team through the Application Form.

What should I bring to the AI Hackathon?

You’ll need your own laptop and any specific software or tools you prefer for AI development.

Do I need to have prior AI experience to participate?

While prior AI experience is helpful, it’s not mandatory. Throughout the AI Hackathon we encourage learning and collaboration, and mentors will be available to assist you.

Is there a registration fee?

No, the AI Hackathon is completely free to participate.

Can I bring a pre-existing project to the AI Hackathon?

We generally encourage participants to start fresh with new ideas and projects during the AI Hackathon’s implementation as it promotes fairness and innovation. However, should you have an idea or ongoing project that you think could fit one of the challenges you should not exclude it.

What are the judging criteria?

Event-formulated or pre-existing teams will be evaluated during the third and final day of the AI Hackathon. In general, judges will be called to evaluate the presented projects based on factors such as creativity, technical complexity, real-world applicability, and presentation. Specific criteria will be provided during the event.

Will there be mentors available to help with technical challenges?

Yes, mentors will be available during the second and third day of the AI Hackathon to assist participants with technical challenges, provide guidance and answer questions.

Is there a code of conduct for the event?

Yes, all participants are expected to adhere to the code of conduct as defined by the organizers of the AI Hackathon which promotes a respectful and inclusive environment. Violations may result in disqualification from the event. The Code of Conduct that outlines expectations for behaviour during the event is as follows:
1. Inclusivity and Respect: We are committed to providing an inclusive and respectful environment for all participants. Treat all attendees, organizers, judges, and sponsors with respect, regardless of their background, experience, or expertise.
2. Collaborative Environment: Embrace the spirit of collaboration and open exchange of ideas. Encourage teamwork and support your fellow participants.
3. Professional Behaviour: Maintain professional behaviour throughout the event. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
4. Ethical AI: Promote ethical practices in AI development and use. Do not engage in activities that could lead to harmful consequences or ethical dilemmas.
5. Privacy and Consent: Respect the privacy and consent of other participants. Do not capture, share, or distribute photos, videos, or personal information without obtaining permission.
6. Code and Project Sharing: Teams are encouraged to share their code and projects with the community. However, respect intellectual property rights and clearly attribute the work of others when necessary.
8. Reporting Concerns: If you witness or experience any violations of this code of conduct, report them to the event organizers or staff immediately. We take all reports seriously and will address them promptly.
